How do you Sleep.. #1 Question

It’s an interesting question. One I think would be a first for me to ask if someone told me they were living in their car. How do you sleep? ๐Ÿค”

It seems logical to me that you would make a bed in your back seat. As a matter of fact it’s the first thing I asked friends in various nomad Facebook groups.. How do you make a bed in the back of a car? I remember one particular friend spelled it all out for me…roll up towels to even out the slumps.. roll memory foam around a sleeping bag.. voila a bed!

Others shared how they took out the back seat.. mounted plywood and then started building their bed with foam, comforters, pillows etc.

I have a couple friends who live in a Prius.. well actually we say we live outside our vehicle not in.. ๐Ÿ˜Šbut they sleep in their vehicle; of course.. They put the seat flat .. once again.. voila a bed!

It seemed to make the simplest sense in a Sedan to go the first route.. memory foam, sleeping bag, towels. To me it sounded very comfy and cozy and I was excited! I hit up Wal-Mart for everything I needed. Went back to the home where I was renting a room at the time of preparation for ‘ new beginnings’ and spread everything out on the driveway.. roll roll roll till I had a narrow homemade mattress! It started raining as I was placing the big heap in my back seat. I climbed in and laid down. Oh my; much to my surprise (or not) it was terribly uncomfortable for me. Reason being is I am a side sleeper and flip from left to right, back and forth several times a night. It was very uncomfortable to do this.. pretty painful actually. See; I have had a ‘rib cage’ discomfort for a few years. Had it checked out.. MRI, X-rays.. nothing. The drs best guess was ‘hiatal hernia or acid reflux.. ok.. I’ll live with it since it was only during my side to side movement that I experienced the sharp twang. But it was not an option to sleep in the back seat of my new nest (aka home) to be.

I remember my mom being most comfortable sleeping in a recliner for years.

The next logical place for some slumber I figured would have to be the passenger seat in a reclining position. After all the seats go way back and being positioned in the front would be awesome if I had to move quickly.

passenger seat recliner position.. way back!

Awe.. not so fast. Now that meant climbing over the console to drive away. My days of being like Gumby are long gone. Oh my; there’s only one option left!

Yes; you guessed right! I sleep in the front driver’s seat! It couldn’t be more perfect (and comfortable)’for me’. No climbing, no shifting stuff from one seat to another, no problem if I gotta get away quick! I love being in control and feeling as cozy as can be. Staying true to a ‘serene and simple’ life I flip and flop.. using the steering wheel as a gripper bar.. There is plenty of room to curl up and to keep the blood moving. I can move from side to side as much as I want.. waking up refreshed and ready to go!

I gave Andy the passenger seat๐Ÿ˜Š
